Political Action Cartoons’ 2012 Draw a Difference Contest is ending on the 25th!

Have you ever wanted to see your art published in a magazine or your local newspaper and know that somehow, in some way, you influenced the election of the President of the United States?

If so, the Draw a Difference 2012 Contest is an opportunity for you to achieve both goals!

Here’s what you need to know:
1. The contest deadline is Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 11:59pm PT.

2. Participation in the Draw a Difference 2012 Contest is completely free. However, as the success of our goal is entirely dependent on the amount of money we raise and the print space we are able to purchase, we strongly encourage all interested parties to donate generously.

3. All submissions must fit within one of the following three broad categories:

• Why President Obama should be re-elected as President of the United States.
• Why Mitt Romney should not be elected as President of the United States.
• Get out the Vote for Obama!

At my last con, I received a Millard Fillmore dollar coin in my change when I bought a bunch of wine at the concession stand. This led to a poll on whether or not a Fillmore dollar counted as real money. I believe the final vote was 2 for “yes” and 7 for “no.”

Now comes word that the whole line of coins has been scrapped, proving that my suspicions were right all along.

Sorry, just one new strip this week. This week’s a mess and I don’t want to rush one just to get something up.

So, I’m DJing a set tomorrow night at The Looking Glass Lounge in DC. And I’m using that as my excuse for being late with today’s strip. It’s my first time DJing at an actual venue (and not a friend’s party or a field in Delaware), so I’m pretty excited. I’ll be on at 10pm and playing my usual mix of 80s New Wave and 90s Alternative. I’ll post the set list afterwards, might even live-Twitter it.

This night is meant to showcase what our camp, Mischief Village, will be bringing to Transformus next month, so it should be pretty cool. The full line up:

Edgar is accused of a crime he didn’t commit! Can he and his robotic science chum Mackenzie clear his good name before he’s kicked out of the Federation of Gentlemen Scientists?

Work continues on getting this monster ready for C2E2. (“Monster” being a relative term for an 8-page story. )

The black and white coloring is going well. It’s interesting working with someone else’s art, particularly doing the lettering. As you might notice from my comic, I tend to focus on the words. Dialogue and letting the characters express themselves is real important to me. So I always letter everything first and then draw. Which is backwards, I know, but that’s how Ed Contradictory works. Having the art first and figuring out the lettering second is new. And sometimes frustrating.

Anyway, Richard Basey has a great take on Edgar and Mackenzie. I really like his take on them.

Also, good news, I think I’ll be able to get next week’s strip done while on vacation, so we hopefully won’t have three weeks of single strips and next Monday will have brand new Ed Contradictory. We’ll see. So, hooray, and all that.
