The answer is: No. I have no idea where this idea came from. Guess I was fed up with idiotic gameshows. I do like smart gameshows, mind you.
First full-color strip and first appearance of the gameshow host, who I’ve used again.
Originally, it only had the three panels of characters shooting poor Murkowski over and over again. But I thought it needed more, so I tinkered with it a bit.
So, I had designed this robot character months ago and didn’t know what to do with him.
Originally, I was going to have Edgar die in the duel, but he was too interesting a character as is. Mackenzie…not so much. So I figured turning him into a cyborg/robot/automaton was a step up.
Also, I lied in the title bar. The storyline went on for another month (I ended up liking Santa Gus more than I thought I would).
My significant other hates the way I draw her in the strip. Which, admittedly, is pretty poorly. This lead to a storyline later where Ed Contradictory is outed for not being able to draw women.
