King City was published by ToykoPop a while back. It was Brandom Graham’s book on a fictional city that thrives on spys, Ruski-yeti hotel owners, cats that transform into any tool, death dealing suit gangs, drugs that turn you into the drug, zombie war vets and girls with awesome cabooses.
It was the one comic that I was really happy to get on regular basis. It was my off season Scott Pilgrim. It was wonderful.
Then Toykopop was on the verge of death. No one was going to see anymore King City. Toykopop wasn’t reverting the rights back to Graham. The only was to see King City would be the crawl into Grahams head. Squatting for a chance to see some King City in between Multiple Warheadz pages.
Then it all changed. Toykopop did something I’d never thought they would do. They decided to do a joint venture with Image comics. In August King City is returning. It’s returning in a oversized format, the same as the recent Viking comic that was publish by Image as well. It’s going to be 12 issue 32 page chunks of pure awesome.
And if the cover is any indication, it will be a $2.99 comic.
This is what awesomeness looks like.
