(Quick note. Until I got a proper setup, the photos will look very amateur. Becuase they are. And I’ve got my Grimlock in dino mode, and I don’t feel like transforming him. But I will include a nice robot mode photo from the internet)
The latest in Takara/Hasbro’s Masterpiece line, Grimlock, is in my opinion also the finest. Or as Grimlock himself would put it: “Me Grimlock King!”.
He’s a good size, though a little smaller then MP Optimus Prime or MP Starscream, both in dino mode and robot mode.
He also has some die cast parts, though I would’ve liked to have seen more. As far as I can tell the die cast is limited to his toes and his robot mode torso.
Dino mode is in a word gorgeous. He’s extremely cartoon accurate. You can change his eye colour from red to blue in both modes, and of course, the ultimate selling point:
That’s right. A drink tray and apron, shown for about 5 minutes in the episode Madman’s Paradise.
There are some other accessories, like his sword and gun (Which both light up in his hand), and the mind transferring device, which is fun, but ultimately pointless.
And in dino mode you can move his head with a jiggle of his tail. A nice feature, way more fun then it should be.
The price is a bit too much, going for $143.99 at Big Bad Toystore. Still, if you love Transformers, the Masterpiece line and Grimlock, it’s very much recommended.
